Band Arts Academy
The Greiner Yellow Jacket Band is currently boasting 150 students and still counting, a combination of Academy and neighborhood students. Thanks to the administrative support, staff collaboration, and community support, the band actively performs at athletic events, concerts, festivals, and various community events. We currently have five levels of the band program: Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Honor Band, and Jazz Band. Through the Beginning Band, the beginner students will learn all the rudimentary lessons about each of their individual instruments, basic music reading, audience etiquette, and will have the opportunity to perform for the parents and student body. Through Concert and Symphonic Bands, the students will continue to perfect their craft as they improve music reading and perform for all school events and some community engagements. Through Honor and Jazz Bands, the students will further their musical endeavors as they are required to perform for all requested events and read music to the highest standard possible. Band Director
Hello, my name is Mr. Bremer, head director of the Greiner Band at GMS. I love working with middle school students, playing my trumpet, or anything Star Wars. I have extensive experience working with all levels of students and instruments, but I consider myself a brass specialist. I received my Bachelor of Music with a teaching certification from Texas Tech University and my masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. I am honored that this will be my 4th year on this campus and my 25th year teaching in Texas. For 21 years, I taught in small schools all around the state of Texas. My classes have included everything from 5th-grade general music to high school marching band.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy Band Program! My name is Rene Luna and I am in my third year here as the assistant band director. As the assistant band director, I am responsible for teaching the Beginner Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone), Beginner Percussion, Symphonic Band and the Jazz Band! I am a native of the Oak Cliff area and I am a proud alumni of Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy and Sunset High School. I earned my Bachelor’s in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University where I, along with my Saxophone Quartet, won the Prestigious Concerto Competition. In my spare time I like to visit coffee shops (White Rhino) with my wife and play “BALL” with our two loving dogs, Cantiflas (5 year old poodle mix ) and Kobe (2 year old Silver Labrador).
