Theatre
If you are interested in the Greiner Academy Theatre Department, you’re in the right place!
Our theatre program is a great fit for students looking for a place to express themselves through performance, and exploration of the various aspects of theatre. In our classes we dive into theatre history, acting methods, design processes, playwriting, and much more! Through every role a student may take on in our class or productions, will always hold the greatest take away of experience! My personal goal for the students at Greiner is to implement an appreciation for them to experience the value of expression through theatre.
During our audition process we are looking for directability and how well a student can work with their environment. Students must understand how to take direction well, not only from an authority type of figure, but also from their peers. We also greatly value creativity and the ability to think outside the box. We want students who are able to take risks to get out of their comfort zones and into their growth zones!
Theatre auditions will begin in a group format with a vocal warmup, group introduction (slate) exercise, movement work, and improvisation games. Students will then be given a monologue to prepare and read at the time of the audition. Students may bring supplemental materials (acting resumes, headshots, technical theater project portfolios, etc.), but supplemental materials and prior experience are not required.
