Sura Maria Pérez is proud to have called Dallas ISD her home for the last 26 years. She immigrated from Guanajuato, Mexico to the United States at the age of 7. As a Dallas ISD scholar, she attended Maria Moreno Elementary, Longfellow Middle School Career Academy, and Townview Magnet High School. After graduating from UTA with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, Mrs. Perez started her career in Dallas ISD as a bilingual teacher and served as a new teacher mentor, DTR ambassador, and led multiple committees and community events. Mrs. Perez continued her education at SMU and pursued a double Master's in Dual Language and Policy and Leadership Studies. Mrs. Perez has stayed loyal to Dallas ISD as a servant leader who supported the start-up of a K-8 campus named Trinity Heights TAG. Mrs. Perez supported the academic movement of the school from F to A rated and successively Blue Ribbon.

Most recently, Mrs. Perez has served as the proud Principal of Winnetka Elementary, a new Music Based Learning Choice School that received a Gold Ribbon Recognition for closing the Achievement Gaps and promoting College and Career Readiness for All scholars regardless of race, background, or socio-economic status.
